In The Spot: Byron

Well known in his hometown of Slough, MC and lyricist Byron has been dropping mix-tapes and tracks for a while now, bubbling under the surface and building foundations, waiting for the right time to unleash his unique insights about the world on the unsuspecting public.

More Info:

Born in Capetown, raised in grey, British suburbia on a diet of UK Garage and later Grime; Byron
developed a passion for poetry, story-telling and the English language which fueled his desire to say
something about his surroundings in the most eloquent, yet rawest, way possible. Appearing on pirate radio
from the age of 15, Byron toured the UK and Australia with previous group Nine High, before returning home,
taking a step back and flipping things on their head to become an English teacher. There's that passion for
the English language again.
Mixtape 'Deep Lyrics, Dirty Beats 1' introduced UK heads to what Byron was about, making everyone from
The Independent to SBTV sit up and take notice. Talking articulately in a way unlike any other current UK
rapper, here's someone from a middle-England town having the balls to say explicitly what he's seeing, all
with an intelligent sense of humour and razor sharp wit.
Byron's recently worked with The Milk (signed to Sony), plus the likes of Dot Rotten, Ghetts, Emeli Sande
and Gabrielle Climi as well as producers TMS, Breakage, The Nextmen and Chris Loco who had a hand in
the second installment of 'Deep Lyrics, Dirty Beats 2'. The perfect example of his story-telling abilities, the
video for lead track 'Don't Judge A Book' was shot by Byron, his best mate and a camera for less than
£100 in his Slough hometown; a place that infiltrates everything he does.
Forthcoming 'Deep Lyrics, Dirty Beats 3' will include the Ghetts and Dot Rotten collaboration and precedes
his first full single release due this summer. He also supports The Milk on their debut UK tour this spring,
including a date at Londonʼs Scala on April 4th.
