Here are Necro’s thoughts of being apart of this heavy collaboration:
I’m real excited about this track, MEN AT WORK 2020, for many reasons. let me give you the breakdown and history of it all from my perspective.
This is the first verse I dropped that Kool G Rap heard, right after we agreed to do The Godfathers album, so I was really excited, nervous, anxious, because this was my chance to shine with KGR, and I didnt wanna dissapoint. When G Rap heard my verse he texted me back, “You blasted a hole through the track homie!”. That felt good getting love from KGR on this song, especially because this is a legendary Kool G Rap song, and he destroys it on the original, as well as this remix.
I was also excited to do this because Domingo put a bunch of other nice mc’s on it, and it would give me a chance to show my skills next to some other dope rappers. I dont do alot of collabos so some of these rapper’s fanbases might not realize how the kid gets it in, even Marley Marl said to Domingo, “Who that???” haha referring to my verse when he heard it, so that was a good look too.
I was just real honored to get on this song when Domingo offered me the last verse spot on it, more than anything because I got major respect for Kool G Rap & Domingo, and what they both have accomplished in the “real hiphop” genre. I’m also very influenced by the production of Marley Marl, he is a groundbreaking legend and if not for him, Necro wouldnt be as dope a producer as I am today.
So on that note, enjoy this banger, and please my Necromaniacs and fellow industry journalist peeps, spread this track everywhere because it really is a unique song, and this is only the remix, Domingo has the original beat version still in the stash to be released soon.
